Job Description: Accounts Receivable Specialist (Van Nuys, CA)

What We Do: Black Girl Sunscreen is the leading provider of sun care for women of color. Launched in 2016, we are in the business of educating WOC about melanoma and sun protection by manufacturing a natural sunscreen that has eliminated all white residue and is infused with organic ingredients. What We Are Looking For: The AR Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable with national retailers. This role involves invoicing, cash application, reconciliations, and dispute resolution to ensure timely collections and smooth financial operations.

Position Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

What You Will Do: 

  • Timely Vendor Remittances: Ensure all vendor remittances are processed on schedule.
  • Order Reconciliation: Track and reconcile orders with payments received, accounting for discounts, returns, and chargebacks.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies between retailer remittances and warehouse shipments (e.g., carton shortages).
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors to resolve disputes and respond to inquiries.
  • Aging Reports Generation: Prepare monthly aging reports for accounts receivable (AR)
  • Roll Forward Reconciliation: Perform roll forward of AR and AP on the balance sheet.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional accounting tasks assigned.

We Would Love If You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 3-5 years Accounts Receivable
  • California Driver’s License, in good standing
  • Must be an intermediate to advanced Excel user for reporting and analysis.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Personable, proactive professional with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, remaining calm under pressure while maintaining efficiency and fostering positive relationships.

Job Description: Operations Manager (Van Nuys, CA)

Job Summary: At Black Girl Sunscreen, our success is driven by the efficiency of our organizational processes. To ensure we maintain and build upon this foundation, we are looking for an experienced operations manager to oversee our daily activities within our operations team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen and a proven track record of successfully managing multiple business activities to maximize productivity.

Position Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
  • Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the company
  •  Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity.

Qualifications:

  • Oversee customer fulfillment and inventory.
  • Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management.
  • Conduct strategic planning to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage transportation, fulfillment and customer orders.
  • Ensure that all aspects of operations are covered and that company goals are met.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve operations department efficiencies.
  • Manage data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Work closely with legal and safety departments to ensure that activities remain compliant
  • Develop and implement long-term operational strategies to align with the company’s overall objectives.

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or related field
  • Working knowledge of management software programs, including SAP and SPS Commerce
  • Two or more years of proven success in an operations management role
  • Strong skills in EDI and transportation/logistics management Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field
  • Working knowledge of management software programs, including SAP and SPS Commerce.

  • Exposure to Cosmetic Product Formulations (including Cosmetic Chemistry and raw materials).
  • Prolonged periods Standing, walking and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing Brand Manager for BGS Men to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the BGS Men product line, from developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness, drive sales growth, and solidify BGS Men as the #1 Sunscreen for Black Skin in the men’s skincare space.

Position Reports To: Director of Marketing

What You Will Do:

The position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Oversee content creation, ensuring alignment with brand voice, aesthetics, and goals.
  • Analyze social media metrics and performance data to optimize campaigns and engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, PD, and Creative partners to align social media efforts with broader brand campaigns and initiatives.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with influencers, brand ambassadors, and key community members.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends, tools, and best practices, leveraging them to keep our brand relevant and innovative.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Digital Marketing Manager on management of social media budgets, including ad spend and paid partnerships.
  • Lead and mentor junior social media team members.

What We Are Looking For:

The Sales Director/Market Leader – International is responsible for developing distribution and sales within assigned territory (Canada/UAE/UK/EU). The Sales Director/Market Leader – International is responsible for managing existing accounts as well as identifying and securing new business to achieve sales goals. The Sales Director/Market Leader – International will also be responsible for working with local vendors/regulatory agencies to identify and overcome barriers to entry in new geographical markets for Black Girl Sunscreen.

Position Reports To: Chief of Operations

What You Will Do:

The position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Day-to-day management of account executives
  • Cold call, network, and prospects for potential new business
  • Seek and connect with retailers in line with our brand ethos
  • Develop and maintain relationships within accounts and leverage those relationships to increase Black Girl Sunscreen’s reach
  • Conduct training sessions with our new partners
  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase sales
  • Deliver excellent account management at all levels
  • Work with other departments to deliver best in class service
  • Performs other duties as assigned
